The New Concept of Supporting Graduate Students and Decreasing the Number of All But Dissertations (ABDs): "Educational Retention" Model: New Reality Corporation©

This research project may take approximately 9 months to complete.

Participating organization will appoint a senior vice president (i.e., mediator or CES) to oversee the process and make all arrangements. Participating organization fund all costs.

Task 1: Form an alliance with universities so that this concept can be implemented.

Task 2: Each division (i.e., Executive, IT, HR, Public Relations, Purchasing, and Customer Service) has to assign a representative to oversee that personnel within the departments answer questions for dissertations and thesis.

Task 3: Once the dissertation is approved by the Dean and has been published, the Mediator will make a presentation to a group of graduate students at the interns' university concerning the process of implementing this concept. Interns will speak about their experiences.

Task 4: Mediator is to make a presentation at a meeting (i.e., a professional association, which focus on the topic) concerning this process. Interns are to speak about their experiences.

Task 5: In the published dissertation, the intern agrees to incorporate the following statements: "I express my gratitude to [organization's name] for sponsoring my dissertation project" and "Nelson-Porter's Educational Retention Model©" in the methodology section of the dissertation.

Kicker 1:  Maximum interns: 3 per organization at one time. Brigette's prefer: 1 male, 1 female, and 1 minority. Interns do not have to have the same dissertation focus.

Kicker 2:  The intern cannot be presently employed with the organization at the time of contract. Hire the intern immediately into the division of which the proposal focuses once the proposal has been approved by the Internal Review Board (IRB). Each intern will be paid a minimum of $15.00 per hour; work a maximum of 6 hours; and dedicate 2 hours per day to doctoral studies.

Kicker 3 Mediator will assist all interns with converting their dissertation (not including the materials for this case study) into a profitable book, send out a press release on the book, and provide each department head with a copy of the book. All profits was to go to the student and publishing company. Mediator is task to select the publisher.

Kicker 4: Organization and interns (students) must agree to provide the research firm and Brigette's each with one free copy of the book.

This concept allows organizations and graduate students to form a long-term relationship, and the interns to obtain job-related and speaking experiences and be participants of their own study

Mediator:  Must submit monthly reports to Brigette's indicating what has been done, what was observed (e.g., verbal and non-verbal communications), progress intended to make, the associations and universities visited and the responses from the group, and so forth. Once the dissertation is published, the department managers must submit a 5-page report, which also indicates the following:

The Mediator's final report must accompany the 5-page reports from department managers within 3 weeks after the press release of the book. The mediator's final report should also elaborate on the following:
