The New Concept of Eliminating Work Related Stress and Building Employees Self Esteem: "A New Attitude" Model: New Reality Corporation©

This research project may take approximately 15 weeks to complete.

Participating organizations will appoint a vice president or senior vice president (i.e., mediator or CES ) to oversee the process and make all arrangements. All fees will be paid by the participating organizations.

This model requires the participation of 30 employees.

Week 1:  All subjects will introduce themselves, attend a stress related class together, and eat lunch together. The 3-member team has to sit together in the classes. Each team member will be presented with two gift certificates in the amount of $10.00 and $25.00. Gift certificates must come from several department stores in the mall. Chose creative and diverse stores. Ask them to think about who they would buy a gift for in the organization. Do not discuss at this point.

Week 2:  All participants will visit a local day spa together and receive a TOTAL make-over. One team per day.

Week 3:  All participants will to go see the movie "The Firm" even if the participants have already seen the movie.  Mediator will view the entire movie 1 day prior to participants seeing the movie even if s/he has already seen it. Once the movie is finished, all participants will come together in a classroom setting and discuss the movie. Mediator will record observations.

Week 4:  Individual teams are to visit a nursing home to do voluntary service for one day. One team per day. Mediator have to attend one day and with one team. Some activities that can be performed; however, not limited to as as follows:

Week 5:  All participants will attend an aerobic, work-out, or dance class and eat lunch together.

Week 6:  Individual teams are to visit a children's hospital to conduct voluntary service for one day. One team per day. Mediator will attend one day and with another team. Same activities as indicated in Week 4.

Week 7:  All participants will attend a local play, musical, or opera. Team members will sit together.

Week 8:  Individual teams will visit a homeless shelter to conduct voluntary service for one day. One team per day. Mediator will attend one day and with another team.

Week 9:  All participants will attend a self esteem class together then branch out into individual teams. Each member of the team must talk about him or herself and provide suggestions to their team members. They must also address their trips to the children's hospital, homeless center, and the nursing home.

Week 10:  All subjects will take a trip to the local mall to get a gift for someone in the organization that is highly stressed and have low self-esteem. The gift cannot be for someone that is partaking in this study. When subjects return from mall, each must tells why they chose their gifts and for whom.

Week 11:  Team members come together and submit a 5-page report (not individual reports) sharing their experiences, expressing why the researcher choose this particular movie, and why gifts were chosen, and so forth. Each teams should sit in a different classrooms with 3 notepads, notebook, hole puncher, one computer and printer.

Kicker 1:  All employees' names will go into three large bowls: Executives and Senior Executive, Managers and Directors, and Junior Personnel. They must not have prior knowledge of this study. One participant has to be chosen from each bowl. If participant cannot participate, mediator has to draw another name from that particular bowl. Participants cannot come from the same department/division.

Kicker 2:  Team members cannot be exchanged once assembled.

Kicker 3:  End of Week 9:  Mediator will present a memo to the 5 executives in each group stating that s/he must recommend one of the five junior personnel for promotion in his/her department. Junior personnel are not to know. Executives have 2 business days to give these recommendations back to the Mediator.

Kicker 4:  End of Week 11, recommendation letters are provided to junior personnel department head and a copy must be presented after the vote:  What vote!  The 30 subjects have to vote on who has 'A New Attitude'. Majority vote wins. If it is a tie, the mediator has to cast the final vote. The winner and his/her 3 guests will be presented with a trip to Hawaii or cruise (paid by the participating organization).

Kicker 5: The participating organization must award the nursing home and children hospital with a check for $1,000.00 at the end of the week participants visited the institutions. Photo will be permitted for Public Relations purposes.

This model is intended show that others are experiencing severe stress that cannot be subdued; and that work-related stress can be subdued.

Mediator:  Must compose a preliminary itinerary of events (submit with first weekly report) and submit weekly reports to the Firm stating what has been implemented and observed, the progress intended to make, where participants visited, why this particular place was chosen, and so forth. The Mediator's final report must accompany the 5-page reports from the team members within 3 weeks after the last week. The final report, if not presented in other reports, should address the following:
