Content Analysis
[Actual Study]

Content Analysis for the Qualitative Portion of Mixed Methods Studies Only

Classical Content Analysis: "Involves taking a random sample of text segments and developing a coding system that allows a quantitative analysis of the results" (Hood, 2006, p. 211)

Inductive or Emergent (Implicit) Coding: Categories [data sets] are established after preliminary examination of the data (Stemler, 2001)

a priori (Explicit) Coding: Categories [data sets] are established before the analysis based upon some theory or concept (Stemler, 2001)

Contextual Analysis: Coding meaningful terms or small phrases derived from the data

Relational Analysis: Coding meaningful terms or small phrases and exploring relations between frequency of selected terms or small phrases

Intercoder Reliability. A critical component whereby "independent coders evaluate a characteristic of a message or artifact and reach the same conclusion" (Section 2).

Even after transcription, documents may need extensive editing [smart copy]. For detailed editing to the merged documents, add an additional $775.00. The data that is loaded into the software is what comes out in the coding.

Additional reports (queries) may be generated from the coding scheme already established for an additional $100.00 per report.

Instructions:

Email proposal and textual data (Word document(s) of all responses) to brigettebrenda@aol.com. Ensure Word document(s) does not have the participants' identity (name) indicated and that the identity is coded; for example, Joe Smack is listed as PART1. When signed and payment are received, the Firm will begin performing the service(s) specified. Allow up to 15-30 days for return of final documents (i.e., reports--in Word and/or text format) and/or another 10-20 days if conducting transcription validity checks (when participants review the merged transcript not the themes). and/or another 10 days if working with another data analyst. The Firm does not guarantee that instrument will obtained the data needed or desire results. No refunds will be provided once signed service contract (invoice) is received with payment.
